The International Aviation Association (IATA) revealed that the recovery in air cargo traffic continued with an exceptional performance in the last quarter of 2023, and during November and December as some shipping companies switched to airfreight instead of sea.

Global air cargo market data showed that air cargo demand continued to recover in 2023 with a particularly strong performance in the fourth quarter. Year-round demand reached a slightly lower level than in 2022 and 2019.

Full-year global demand in 2023, measured in freight tons per kilometer, fell 1.9 percent compared to 2022. The decline in international operations was 2.2 percent. Compared to 2019, demand fell last year by 3.6 percent and 3.8 percent for international operations.
